Deadlines for the 36-credit MBI Program:

  • Early Decision: November 1, 2019, 11:59 PM ET
  • Regular Decision: January 3, 2020, 11:59 PM ET

The Accelerated MBI Program is open to postdocs and MD students only. Please review the program pre-requisites to see if you qualify

Deadline for the 48-credit MBI Program:

  • Regular Decision: January 3, 2020, 11:59 PM ET

The 48-credit MBI Program is a full-time, 3 semester program that is only open to applicants who have earned a Bachelor's or Master's degree at the time of matriculation. Students holding a doctoral level degree must apply for the Accelerated MBI Program. Please review the program pre-requisites to see if you qualify. 

Keane OpenNotes Fellowship in Patient Engagement and Transparency

The Keane OpenNotes Fellowship provides funding for a qualified postdoctoral student to complete the Accelerated Master of Biomedical Informatics program. Detailed information on the fellowship can be found here: https://www.opennotes.org/about/keanefellowship/

The deadline to complete the application for the Keane OpenNotes Fellowship is Wednesday, November 27, 2019. The application process for the fellowship program is separate from the application process to the MBI program. 

Application Requirements

The application includes:

  • Online form
  • CV
  • Letter of Interest
  • 3 letters of recommendation
  • All transcripts from degree-granting institutions (Uploaded unofficial transcripts are acceptable at the time of application. Only admitted students will be asked to send official transcripts.)

Standardized Test Scores

  • Application does NOT require GRE or other standardized test scores

Application Requirements for International Students

  • Applicants for whom English is not their native language and who did not receive their undergraduate or graduate degree from an institution where English is the language of instruction must take the TOEFL or IELTS exams. 
  • The Master of Biomedical Informatics program requires a minimum score of 100 on the TOEFL and a 7 on the IELTS. 
  • Applicants submitting a TOEFL score should select “3151 Harvard Med Sch Grad Educ MS.”

Application Fee Waiver

  • An application fee waiver is available to all applicants who are also applying for consideration for the BIRT Fellowship and any applicant for whom the $100 fee waiver would be a demonstrated hardship.
