Burak Alver is the Scientific Director of the 4D Nucleome Data Coordination and Integration Center (4DN DCIC) and a co-Director of the Clinical Genome Analysis Platform (CGAP), overseeing the bioinformatics and infrastructure development of the two projects.

Before that, he was a Research Fellow in the lab, working on various problems in epigenetic regulation of transcription. His main interests involve enhancer malfunction in cancer and the role of 3D chromatin structure in gene regulation.

And before that, he completed his PhD in experimental high energy physics at MIT. His research involved computational analysis of data collected at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider at Brookhaven National Laboratory.
