Job Description
We are excited to offer an Associate position in the lab of Dr. Isaac Kohane at Harvard Medical School's Department of Biomedical Informatics. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about advancing the field of medical text processing through the use of Large Language Models (LLMs). The Associate will be integral in supporting cutting-edge research and development activities, contributing to innovative projects that enhance medical text analysis and its application in healthcare.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the research and development of Large Language Model (LLM) applications for medical text processing.
- Work closely with postdoctoral researchers and a multidisciplinary team to support the design and implementation of novel algorithms and models for medical text analysis.
- Help manage and analyze large-scale medical datasets, aiding in the extraction of relevant information and the development of methods to improve medical text processing efficiency and accuracy.
- Participate in the evaluation and validation of algorithm and model performance, assisting in experimental setup and benchmarking processes.
- Support the lab's efforts in publishing research findings in scientific journals and presenting at conferences and seminars.
- Engage in lab activities, including data management, literature review, and preparing materials for research meetings and presentations.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Bioinformatics, Computational Linguistics, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Demonstrated interest or experience in using LLMs for text processing, preferably in a medical or healthcare context.
- Basic programming skills in Python or R, with a willingness to learn and adapt to new programming languages and tools as required.
- An understanding of medical datasets, biomedical ontologies, and terminologies would be advantageous.
- Strong organizational and communication skills, with an ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary research environment.
