Research Fellow Reports on NIPS, the "Burning Man" of ML

Poster for thirtieth annual conference on Neural Information Processing Systems (NIPS)
The Thirtieth Annual Conference on Neural Information Processing Systems (NIPS) was held December 5–10 in Barcelona, Spain.

Last week, postdoctoral research fellow Andrew Beam attended the Conference on Neural Information Processing Systems (NIPS), one of the world's top conferences on machine learning (ML). He has described the experience in a blog post with a take-home message that “[Artificial Intelligence] is taking over the world, except maybe in healthcare.”

Beam's ongoing research at DBMI focuses on the application of ML and genomics to the clinic in order to help create a smarter healthcare system.
