Arjun (Raj) Manrai received a degree in Physics from Harvard College and completed his PhD under the supervision of Professor Isaac Kohane at the Harvard-MIT Division of Health Sciences and Technology, where he received a degree in Bioinformatics and Integrative Genomics. He is interested in the opportunities and challenges of using genomic data in the clinic. His research draws on statistical genetics, decision theory, and mathematical models for scientific reproducibility. His current focus is on quantifying disease risk in individuals who receive positive genetic testing results for the inherited heart disease hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM), as well as women undergoing genetic testing for breast cancer. Manrai is especially interested in developing quantitative methods and computational resources that translate findings in genomic medicine to benefit underserved communities.
