Ashley Kras has just completed his final ophthalmology residency exams in Australia. "I am undertaking the masters to gain skills and exposure to the way in which data science can and will impact clinical medicine. I am interested in the impacts of date on diagnostics and therapeutics in ophthalmology, as well as other medical specialities. I am interested in understanding AI/machine learning, database construction and management and big data methodologies. At this stage, once I complete the masters, my intention is to undertake further subspecialty surgical training within ophthalmology and then work in a combined surgical/informatics capacity within a hospital/research/industry environment."
