Carlos De Niz received his PhD in Electrical Engineering from Texas Tech University (Lubbock, Texas). After 6 years of experience as a design engineer at GE Aviation, De Niz transitioned back to the biomedical sciences. As a graduate student, he focused his research on cancer bioinformatics, applied machine learning and personalized drug therapy. Carlos has previous research experience at Philips Research, IBM's Watson Research Center, and HMS DBMI. As a postdoctoral fellow, he is studying the effect of accumulated mutations, specifically via single nucleotide variants (SNVs), in patients with autism.
