Hirak Sarkar, PhD

Former Research Fellow in Biomedical Informatics, Harvard Medical School

Hirak Sarkar is a postdoctoral fellow focusing on developing methods for multi-modal large-scale single-cell studies. Sarkar received his PhD in Computer Science from the University of Maryland under the guidance of Professor Rob Patro. He primarily works on two broad areas of computational biology. On the one hand, he uses applied machine learning to analyze heterogeneous, large-scale public datasets. On the other hand, he designs ultra-fast mapping algorithms and compression schemes for raw sequencing data.
