Peter Kerpedjiev completed his doctoral work under the supervision of Professor Ivo Hofacker at the Institute for Theoretical Chemistry at the University of Vienna, where he worked on modeling the tertiary structure of RNA. Seeing the value of human interpretation in understanding biological processes, he now works primarily on visualizing genomic data. This pursuit is confounded not only by the volume of data available but also by the incomplete understanding of the biological processes that underlie it. The new methods and tools being developed aim to present our current knowledge in concise, easily navigable views designed to aid researchers in supporting their findings with existing evidence, creating new ideas and hypotheses to test or simply communicating results to the broader community.
