Mark Homer, PhD, MS, MBI

Master of Medical Science in Biomedical Informatics, Class of 2016
Biomedical Informatics Research Training Fellow, 2014-2016

Mark Homer is a Postdoctoral Fellow at Children's Hospital Boston. His research revolves around clinical decision aids driven by analyzing electronic health records. The objective is to cost effectively improve patient outcomes. A key piece in the puzzle is often the statistical model that captures trends and patterns in the data. Algorithms from machine learning, artificial intelligence, signal processing, operations research, and optimization underlie these models. "Methodologically, I aim to push the envelope in these algorithms' ability to deliver results that are timely, up to date, accurate, and reliable. The MMSc in Biomedical Informatics program at the Harvard Medical School puts me at the perfect intersection of medical practice and informatics technology. The fellowship provides opportunities to access resources, train, as well as connect with researchers and health professionals."
