Melissa Van Cain, MD, MBI

Melissa Van Cain has a background in engineering and project management with a degree in mechanical engineering and experience managing product development at Xerox. She first became interested in health informatics during medical school when she helped introduce iPads into the curriculum. Van Cain just finished residency in Pediatrics at the Children's Hospital at Montefiore in Bronx, NY and assisted with the hospital's transition to a new EHR. Her research focuses on clinical decision support and using new technologies to communicate with patients. She is a Clinical Informatics Fellow at Boston Children's Hospital and is excited to begin the Masters Program to develop her technical skills and learn how to better apply principles of biomedical informatics in the clinical domain to improve patient care.
