The Department of Biomedical Informatics at Harvard Medical School invites applications for up to two tenure-track openings at the Assistant Professor level.  Founded in 2015, the Department consists of 16 core faculty members working in diverse areas of biomedical informatics and offers unparalleled opportunities for collaborative research with investigators in the basic science departments at Harvard as well as with clinicians at Harvard-affiliated hospitals. The Department is particularly interested in the two following areas:

I. Computational biology and genomics. Study of fundamental biology is increasingly reliant on modeling and computational analysis of genomic and other high-throughput data. We are looking for candidates interested in developing new computational techniques for such analysis and applying them to significant problems in biology and medicine. 

II. AI/ML in precision healthcare. The application of machine learning to digitized healthcare data is changing medical practice and clinical discovery. We are looking for AI/ML researchers to help lead research to effect that change in the most effective, safe and rapid way. Successful applicants will have had experience working in the medical task domain using healthcare data.

We seek candidates who will be leaders in their respective fields and share our vision for transforming biomedical science and healthcare. Candidates must have a proven quantitative background and must demonstrate substantial innovation and methodological rigor in their approach to scientific inquiry in biomedicine or in the translation of computational methods to engineering/software applications in medicine. Applicants must have a doctoral degree (PhD, MD/PhD, or equivalent) and strong evidence of contributions to their field. All faculty members are expected to contribute substantively to our educational programs through teaching and mentorship.
